Mike Keenan fired as head coach of KHL's Metallurg, moved to advisor position

"Iron Mike" might be showing some rust.

Mike Keenan was fired as coach of KHL club Metallurg Magnitogorsk on Saturday, the team has announced.

Keenan will now serve as an advisor to the president.

Kennan has coached 1,386 NHL games, earning the 1994 Stanley Cup with the New York Rangers, and capturing the Jack Adams Award as the league's top coach in 1984-85.

Metallurg sit sixth in the Eastern Conference with eight wins through 21 games.
