The Chicago Blackhawks have already identified their area of need.
The Blackhawks are scouring the trade market for a defenseman, Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Chicago's top two pairings are set, with Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook, Niklas Hjalmarsson, and Trevor Daley combining to make up a solid top four. But there's a significant drop-off in talent with their other rearguards.
Coach Joel Quenneville experimented with David Rundblad, Trevor van Riemsdyk, and Viktor Svedberg through the first two games, while Ville Pokka and the injured Michal Rozsival are also under contract.
