Predators send 2014 1st-round pick Kevin Fiala to AHL
Kevin Fiala isn't quite ready for prime time.
Dead set on cracking the Nashville Predators season-opening roster, the 19-year-old - who was drafted 11th overall in 2014 - was assigned to the AHL's Milwaukee Admirals on Saturday.
He played in three of Nashville's first four preseason games, recording two assists and seven shots while averaging 14:23 of ice time.
Fiala made Kevin Allen of USA Today's list of rookies to watch this season who aren't Connor McDavid or Jack Eichel. However, the AHL assignment is no sign of failure, according to general manager David Poile.

Poile certainly makes it sound as though Fiala will be up with the big club at some point during the 2015-16 season.
The Swiss forward appeared in 33 games for the Admirals last season, scoring 11 goals and adding nine assists.
