The Boston Bruins could be in the market for a defenseman.

With captain Zdeno Chara listed as day-to-day with an upper body injury and and veteran defenseman Dennis Seidenberg expected to miss eight weeks after undergoing back surgery this past Wednesday, the club could be in the market for some help, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.

Friedman discussed the team's interest in acquiring a defenseman on Saturday night's "Headlines" segment, stating - despite rumors that the club might have interest in Winnipeg Jets defender Dustin Byfuglien - the team might look for a more "cost-effective" move.

An omission of Chara and Seidenberg on the back end would make Adam McQuaid the oldest player on the Bruins' blue line at 28 years of age.
