The Tampa Bay Lightning added another voice behind the bench Tuesday, announcing that they've assigned Brad Lauer to Jon Cooper's staff.
Lauer was fired by the Anaheim Ducks at the end of last season, representing the only coaching casualty in the aftermath of the team's seven-game defeat at the hands of the Chicago Blackhawks in the Western Conference Final.
His termination ended a four-year spell in Anaheim, where he was charged with running a 28th-ranked power play that lagged behind other facets of the Ducks' game.
Lauer, 48, joined the NHL coaching ranks with the Ottawa Senators in 2009 after a journeyman playing career.
