Jonathan Bernier will have the value of his next contract decided by an arbitrator.
The Toronto Maple Leafs, Bernier, and the goalie's representatives met for nearly five hours Friday, but the two sides remained far apart on a deal, Sportsnet reports.

Heading into deliberations, Bernier was asking for $5.1 million while the Maple Leafs countered with the minimum amount allowed at $2.89 million - which is more than a half million dollars less than he earned last season.
An arbitrator's decision is expected by Sunday.
