Report: Capitals, Johansson $1.75M apart in contract talks ahead of arbitration

With an arbitration hearing set for Wednesday, the Washington Capitals and forward Marcus Johansson are believed to be $1.75 million apart in the desired valuation of his next contract.
Johansson is seeking $4.75 million, while the club is offering $3 million, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.
The 24-year-old is coming off a deal that carried an average annual valuation of $2 million over the past two seasons. During that time, Johansson averaged 46 points per season, hitting a career-high 20 goals and 27 assists in 2014-15, with a Corsi For rating of 51.9 at even strength.
