Hurricanes sign Justin Shugg to 1-year, 2-way contract

The Carolina Hurricanes made a minor deal Sunday.
The team signed forward Justin Shugg to a one-year, two-way contract.
The deal will pay him $600,000 at the NHL level.
The 23-year-old was drafted by the Hurricanes in 2010 and spent last season with the team's American Hockey League affiliate Charlotte Checkers, scoring 21 goals and 43 points in 65 games.
He went pointless in three games with the Hurricanes.
