The Winnipeg Jets are apparently trying to re-sign Michael Frolik before he hits the open market.

Talks between the franchise and the pending unrestricted free agent are ongoing, according to TSN's Frank Seravalli. Frolik and the Jets avoided arbitration last offseason by agreeing to a one-year, $3.3 million deal.

Frolik recorded 42 points in each of his two seasons with Winnipeg. The 27-year-old earned a larger role on the Jets' special teams last season, finishing with a career-high in average time on ice (17:30).
