Detroit Red Wings head coach Mike Babcock didn't have an update on his future Friday, but said one is coming soon.
"If you want to be on the Mike Babcock day-to-day watch, you're wasting your time, because there's nothing going on day-to-day," he told reporters.
Babcock plans to meet with general manager Ken Holland over the next 10 days to arrive at a plan.
While he is expected to have multiple opportunities, being a GM doesn't interest him.
"I have no skill set to be a general manager," Babcock said. "I'm a coach.... I have no interest in sitting where Kenny sits at all. None."
Babcock has a regular-season record of 458-223-105, and a winning percentage of .649, in 10 years with Detroit. That includes a Stanley Cup victory in 2008 and a Stanley Cup Final appearance in 2009.
The head coach and GM reportedly met on Friday morning, less than two days after the Red Wings lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 7 of their first-round playoff series.
Babcock's contract expires on June 30.
