Flames coach Hartley: Sean Monahan does not have a shoulder injury
Calgary Flames forward Sean Monahan has been in and out of practices this week, but head coach Bob Hartley said his young center isn't hurt.
"We didn't ask the BC Lions for Travis Lulay's shoulder pads," Hartley joked Thursday. "Sean Monahan has no shoulder injuries."
Monahan missed the regular-season finale, a 5-1 loss to the Winnipeg Jets, on Saturday. He was held out of practice Monday and was limited on Tuesday.
The Flames first-liner was questionable for, but played in, Calgary's Game 1 victory over the Vancouver Canucks Wednesday night, logging 20:09, including time spent on the power play and penalty kill.
"I feel good," he told reporters Thursday. "As the game went on, I felt better."
The second-year forward has been battling an illness, TSN's Darren Dreger reported.
Monahan scored 31 goals and added 31 assists in 81 regular-season games.
