Sidney Crosby to host own hockey camp in hometown
For aspiring hockey players hoping to be the next Sidney Crosby, what better way to do so than by learning the game from the man himself?
This summer will allow for just that. The Pittsburgh Penguins star is set to hold his own hockey camp this August in his hometown of Cole Harbour, N.S.
The camp looks to be the brainchild of Crosby and his father and will be run by the Penguins' star as well as Crosby's former peewee AAA coach, Paul Mason.
It will be open to 120 kids between the ages of eight and 12, boys and girls. The camp will ask participants to have some experience playing hockey, but exact criteria for the camp hasn't been decided yet.
With the biggest name in the game holding such a camp, it is already expected that attendance will be great. Mason said as much to CTV News Atlantic.
“Kids from Nova Scotia are going to be in this camp for sure and we also have to recognize that there's going to be interest from outside Nova Scotia, across Canada and maybe the U.S. Because it's a hockey camp, kids are going to have played before. That will be one thing that we have a minimum of, just played, but it's not about skill, that's not going to prioritize people at all.”
The camp will run from August 3 to 7 and registration closes in May. So kids, start begging your parents now before it's too late.
