Stamkos assessed misconduct for tossing stick into stands, could face discipline

Steven Stamkos committed a big no-no Thursday in Boston.
Trying to help his Tampa Bay Lightning get the extra point in overtime against the Bruins, Stamkos snapped his stick on a shot attempt and tossed it towards his bench.
Unfortunately, the stick landed in the stands, resulting in a 10-minute misconduct.
The penalty disqualified Tampa's sniper from the ensuing shootout, which the Lightning lost.
It's also likely to catch the attention of the NHL head office.
Player Safety will look at Stamkos broken stick toss, but discipline unlikely. Similar to Toews last year. Careless, but not intentional.

As a reminder, Toronto's Mats Sundin was suspended for one game back in 2004 for a similar stick toss.
