The Detroit Red Wings are the early winners of the NHL's trade deadline.
This conclusion was reached after Marek Zidlicky scored the game-winning overtime goal against the New York Rangers on Wednesday.
The blue-liner was acquired on Monday from the New Jersey Devils for a 2016 third-round pick.
Zidlicky benefited from a nice assignment on an overtime power-play unit with Pavel Datsyuk, Henrik Zetterberg and Niklas Kronwall, and notched the goal after the man advantage expired.
The 38-year-old became the first player in Red Wings' history to score an overtime goal in his debut with the club.
