Paul Stewart on Eric Lindros's defamation suit: 'The truth is always your shield'

Former referee Paul Stewart isn't worried about being sued by Eric Lindros,

"I have games to go to, other issues to deal with, and in particular cases like this, the truth is always your shield," Stewart told Randy Miller of NJ.com.

The former NHL forward filed a defamation suit against Stewart and the Huffington Post, as TSN reported Wednesday.

He's seeking $250,000 in damages for an article penned by Stewart in July 2014 that alleges Lindros tore up posters that Stewart asked him to sign for a charity auction.

Stewart has retained a lawyer and plans to fight the lawsuit.

"(He has) had a lot of fights in his life where people tried to make him squirm. He won't be intimidated by Lindros's threats," a source familiar with the case told NJ.com.

Stewart had no further comment on the case.
