Jason Spezza's return to Ottawa was a triumphant one.
Jamie Benn scored twice, while Trevor Daley led the way with three points, as the Dallas Stars doubled up the Ottawa Senators 6-3 Thursday night in Spezza's first game back at the Canadian Tire Centre.
Here's what you need to know:
- Spezza recorded four shots, but was held off the scoresheet and had his personal five-game point streak snapped.
- Alex Chiasson, the key return piece in the Spezza deal, scored for the first time in 17 games against his old team.
- Dallas padded its team stats with two shorthanded goals into the empty net to make a tight game look anything but.
- Ottawa put together a nice video tribute, and the fans welcomed Spezza back rather respectfully.
- The Senators have now lost seven of 10, while the Stars snapped a two-game slide.
