Rick Nash doesn't care about the Richard Trophy, he's after bigger game

New York Rangers star Rick Nash currently owns a share of the NHL scoring lead, tied with Dallas Stars sniper Tyler Seguin with 28 goals, even though Nash has played two fewer games.

Nash, who won the Maurice "Rocket" Richard trophy over a decade ago as a member of the Columbus Blue Jackets, isn't phased by potential personal accolades. He's got his eyes on a different prize:

Whether the Rangers have the depth to return to the Stanley Cup Final is an open question. Their shot attempt differential isn't nearly as imposing as it was a year ago when they cruised through the Eastern Conference, and certainly the middle of their forward group isn't scaring anyone out East.

When you have Henrik Lundqvist in net, Ryan McDonagh on the back end, and the sort of high-end skill upfront like Nash, Martin St. Louis and Derek Stepan provide, you're never out of it.

If the Rangers can add a quality middle-six forward before the 2015 NHL trade deadline - like Mike Santorelli? - there's no doubt that, at the very least, they'll be a tough out this spring.
