The most marketable hockey player in the world won't be attending the 2015 NHL All-Star Game in Columbus this weekend.

Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby will not be appearing in the NHL showcase, the club announced on Thursday night.

As a result of skipping the All-Star game, Crosby won't be permitted to play in Pittsburgh's game on Tuesday, January 27th, against the Winnipeg Jets. Presumably the NHL made good on their reported threat from earlier this month.

Crosby reportedly underwent an MRI at the beginning of this week before playing in the two games, sources told TVA's Louis Jean

The Penguins star was re-evaluated by team doctors on Thursday, and they advised him to rest rather than run the risk of aggravating the injury.
