Maple Leafs assign Carter Ashton to AHL

The Toronto Maple Leafs assigned forward Carter Ashton to the AHL's Toronto Marlies on Wednesday, the NHL club announced.

Ashton cleared waivers earlier in the day.

The winger is pointless in seven games with the Maple Leafs, but has two points in three games with the Marlies in 2014-15.
