Though it was proposed Saturday that the league could investigate the New Jersey Devils' hiring of former Washington Capitals head coach Adam Oates, NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly has since poured cold water on any suggested wrongdoing.
"Not sure this is different than most of these types of situations," Daly wrote to Tom Gulitti of the Bergern Record via email. "Teams talked, appropriate assurances were made, case closed."
