Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Roman Polak has been activated off injured reserve and could make an immediate return to the lineup, according to head coach Randy Carlyle:

Polak, 28, has three goals and five assists in 21 games while logging first-pairing minutes and leading all Maple Leafs skaters in short-handed ice-time per game.

The stay-at-home defenseman sustained a knee injury in late November. He was expected to be out for longer, but appears to be well ahead of schedule.
