The Minnesota Wild couldn't hold off the St. Louis Blues late in the third period after dominating throughout the game. The shootout win gave the Blues a two-game winning streak and handed the Wild their third loss in five games.

  • Blues forward T.J. Oshie left the first period after an illegal check to the head sent him to the quiet room. He returned for the second period and failed to score in the shootout.
  • Blues defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk was ejected in the second period after boarding Wild forward Ryan Carter.
  • After mounting a one-goal lead, the Blues let the Wild score two. In the dying minutes of the third period David Backes tied the game, scoring his seventh goal of the season.
  • Both goaltenders stood tall in overtime and the shootout as only Vladimir Tarasenko was able to hammer one past Jake Allen.
  • The Wild out-shot the Blues the entire game (38-26), but couldn't come away with the win.
