Report: Maple Leafs' Booth to make regular season debut Wednesday
The Toronto Maple Leafs will reportedly get play-driving ace and shooting percentage outlier David Booth back from injury this week.
Booth could make his regular season debut Wednesday when the Maple Leafs visit the Pittsburgh Penguins, according to Sportsnet's Damien Cox.
Booth suffered a foot injury in the preseason and has yet to make his regular season debut for the Maple Leafs.
The 29-year-old forward has struggled to finish, but remains an effective player when healthy. Over the past few seasons that's been rare though, which is a big reason why the Vancouver Canucks used a compliance buyout on Booth's contract this past June.
Booth is unlikely to ever regain the form he flashed in his Florida Panthers heyday, but he can definitely help a Maple Leafs team control the flow of play at 5-on-5, which is something the club still struggles with enormously.
