Top draft prospect McDavid out indefinitely after injuring hand in fight
Erie Otters forward Connor McDavid went to hospital for X-rays on his right hand following the second fight of his OHL career Tuesday.
McDavid took exception to a hit the Mississauga Steelheads' Bryson Cianfrone delivered along the end boards during the second period and dropped the gloves, raining rights on the forward's head after forcefully removing his helmet.
McDavid, who did not throw a punch in his only other fight, was automatically ejected from the contest for removing an opponent's helmet, but the Otters - and every NHL team eyeing a lottery pick for next June - will be much more concerned about the long-term implications of his fisticuffs.
No official word on Connor McDavid, but according to Erie Otters PR staff: "It's not looking good."

McDavid, the ISS top-ranked prospect for the 2015 NHL entry draft, recorded a goal and an assist before the fight, raising his season total to 51 points in 18 games. He will be automatically suspended for Friday's game against the Niagara IceDogs and could miss the OHL's Super Series game against Russia on Thursday as a result of the costly fight.
Erie will know more about the extent of McDavid's injury after he visits a specialist Wednesday. He's out indefinitely.
Sherry Bassin says on #MvsW that they'll know by 6pm tonight the results from the hand specialist Connor McDavid will see today.
