Fireworks were lit by Anaheim Ducks center Ryan Kesler at the end of Friday's 2-1 win over the Minnesota Wild.
As time expired in the third period, Kesler took a run at Wild forward Mikael Granlund, sparking a skirmish and a heated response from Zach Parise.
Kesler was assessed a five-minute major for charging, while Parise drew a major penalty for cross checking. No supplemental discipline is expected to be levied, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.
“Game’s over. It’s stupid,” Parise said of Kesler's hit on Granlund, according to Michael Russo of the Star Tribune.
These two clubs are set to meet once again on Dec. 5 in Minnesota.
