Avalanche place Semyon Varlamov on injured reserve with groin injury
Colorado Avalanche goaltender Semyon Varlamov has been placed on injured reserve, the team announced Thursday.
Varlamov was a game-time decision due to a groin injury that was more serious than initially thought.
Reto Berra will start against the Ottawa Senators on Thursday.
Goaltender Calvin Pickard has been recalled from Lake Erie to take Varlamov's spot on the roster.
