Sidney Crosby and Patrick Kane agree: Jamie Benn is the NHL's most underrated player
Patrick Kane and Sidney Crosby are from different countries, play different positions, and have wildly different off-ice reputations, but they agree on at least one thing: Dallas Stars forward Jamie Benn is the NHL's most under-rated player.
Crosby and Kane discussed Benn's under-the-radar greatness in filmed media day interviews in September with Sports Illustrated, and lavished the Stars captain with praise.
"Great two-way player, big, strong, he's tough..." Crosby said of his Team Canada Olympic teammate. "He's probably one of the top players and I don't think right away that his name really comes up, and he definitely deserves to be there."
Added Kane: "You look at what he does, he does everything."
Also receiving votes were Boston Bruins forwards David Krejci and Brad Marchand, who were complimented at length by ex-Bruins forwards Tyler Seguin and Blake Wheeler. Actually there were a good number of Bruins shoutouts in the video, with even P.K. Subban - the most high profile player on the Bruins' ancient rival the Montreal Canadiens - selecting a Bruins skater as his "most underrated player."
"Patrice Bergeron," Subban answered when asked about the league's most under-rated player. "it's maybe unfair to call him under-rated now with all the accolades... But I think until this season he had been the most under-rated."
