Flyers' White out 5 months after undergoing surgery to repair torn pectoral

by Ian McLaren

The Flyers will be without recently acquired center Ryan White for five months after undergoing surgery to repair a torn pectoral muscle, general manager Ron Hextall announced Friday.

White signed a one-year, $575,000 deal with Philadelphia this past summer, and was set to compete for the club's fourth-line center role prior to the injury suffered during offseason workouts.

In 52 games with the Montreal Canadiens last season, White registered two goals, four assists and 50 penalty minutes.
