Sidney Crosby was given the green light from head athletic trainer Chris Stewart to participate in Friday's practice at Penguins' training camp. He left the ice prior to a three-on-three scrimmage, an early departure that was agreed upon ahead of time.
“I talked to (Stewart) and he basically said that he was comfortable with me going out there for a little bit,” Crosby said, as per the Tribune Review. “I was happy to hear that. Hopefully I can put a string of days (together) here. (Stewart) wanted me to go out for a certain period of time. Started to get pretty intense there at the end, so he said to get off.”
After the session, Crosby was asked whether he'd be scratched from a regular season game if one was scheduled for the same day.
His response: "I don't think (so)."
Pittsburgh's star center will continue to be monitored and evaluated as camp goes on.
