Anthony Mantha's crusade toward the Detroit Red Wings' opening-day lineup has been derailed by injury.
General manager Ken Holland announced the hulking prospect fractured his tibia in the first period of Wednesday's prospects game against the Minnesota Wild and is expected to miss 6-8 weeks.
The QMJHL superstar forward scored a staggering 57 goals and 120 points in 57 games with Val d-Or last season.
