Pending unrestricted free agent defenseman Marc Methot wanted to get an extension in place before the Ottawa Senators reported to training camp this week, but it appears the two sides will remain at least $500,000 apart.
Sounds like OTT doesn't want to go any higher than $4.5M AAV on long-term deal for Marc Methot, who is asking for $5M per.

Methot is entering the final season of his four-year, $12-million pact signed with the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2011.
