The Edmonton Oilers are trying out some extra sandpaper at training camp.
Edmonton added veteran enforcer Kevin Westgarth to its training camp roster on a tryout basis on Tuesday, offering the 30-year-old forward a chance to continue his career.
Westgarth appeared in 36 games with the Calgary Flames last season, recording a career-high seven points after being traded from the Carolina Hurricanes. He's missed significant time due to hand injuries and also suffered a concussion when he was knocked out by resident Oilers tough guy Luke Gazdic in March.
