The Chicago Blackhawks will no longer play David Rose's "The Stripper" when (attractive) female contestants step onto the ice to participate in Shoot the Puck, the United Center's famed second-period promotion.
The organization made the decision Wednesday in response to an online petition that began circulating on Aug. 6 accompanied, of course, by the hashtag #BanTheStripper.
"We have to listen," Blackhawks president and CEO John McDonough told the Chicago Sun-Times via ESPN. "We have to be aware. We have to react when appropriate - not overreact, but react.
"We take all of this very seriously. We have had to take a look at every single element, every aspect of our operation, our hockey business from A to Z. I certainly have read the stories, and I understand the sensitive nature of all of that."
The "Madhouse" fans will have to settle for "Chelsea Dagger" between goals.
