SHL-bound Mikael Samuelsson: 'Quite clear that I have more in the tank'

Former Detroit Red Wings winger Mikael Samuelsson, 37, has been limited in recent years due to a variety of health issues - something that isn't exactly uncommon for a player his age.

The high-volume shooter appeared in just 26 games with the Red Wings during the 2013-14 campaign, scoring only one goal and amassing three total points.

Unable to attract an enticing NHL offer this summer, Samuelsson signed with Stockholm-based SHL club Djurgården on Tuesday and is looking forward to proving that he's still got some useful hockey in him.

"I am eager to play good hockey again and is quite clear that I have more in the tank to give," Samuelsson said of signing with Djurgården per the club's website (via google translate). "This is a real challenge."

As for what Samuelsson's most looking forward to in his return to Swedish professional hockey, the often outspoken forward appeared to take a shot at the way the NHL game is played:

I would particularly like to play hockey and not just dump the puck. Then it happens so clear that it is in (a 2-1 game - fine) but otherwise, I would like to pass the puck and get a fun game.
