Representatives of unrestricted free agent Nikolai Kulemin are reportedly preparing to find the two-way forward a new employer, according to Sportsnet's Chris Johnston.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have engaged in "limited" discussion with Kulemin regarding a contract extension, indicating that his tenure with the club is coming to a close after six seasons, per the report.
Kulemin has been relegated further into a checking capacity and unable to replicate his 30-goal campaign of 2010-11. He has 39 goals in the four years since.
The 27-year-old's offensive game further spiraled this season, when he registered a career-low 20 points.
Johnston notes that Kulemin believes he "has more to give offensively" if given the opportunity, which he appears set on pursuing.
