Ben Bishop still has swelling in wrist after surgery, plans to be ready for training camp
Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender and Vezina nominee Ben Bishop's career year came to an abrupt halt when he sustained a dislocated elbow in a game against the Toronto Maple Leafs in early April. Shortly after the Lightning were eliminated - with Bishop injured and watching idly during the Stanley Cup playoffs - it was revealed that Bishop had been playing for months with a torn ligament in his wrist.
Bishop underwent a surgical procedure to repair his injured wrist in late April. While his rehabilitation appears to be going slowly, the 6-foot-7 puck-stopper vows to be ready for training camp this fall.
"It's going well," said Bishop of his lengthy rehab per Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times. "Slowly but surely, we're getting movement back in it. It's getting stronger each day."
Bishop hopes to begin skating again in August, but he's still dealing with inflammation in his wrist and it will take some time before that subsides. "We're back to almost 100-percent on the elbow," Bishop said Thursday.
