Stars sign Gemel Smith to entry-level contract

The Dallas Stars signed center Gemel Smith to a three-year, entry-level contract Saturday.
Originally a fourth-round pick in 2012, Smith tallied 75 points in 69 games split between the Owen Sound Attack and London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League during his final season in junior.
Physical, quick, but not overly talented offensively, the Toronto native is likely bound to feature in a bottom-six capacity.
