Jets F Evander Kane facing lawsuit over alleged assault
Winnipeg Jets forward Evander Kane is being sued by a Vancouver man claiming he was assaulted by the 22-year-old last year, according to CBC News.
The lawsuit was filed on March 28, and the man claims he was attacked by Kane on a Vancouver street corner while heading home from work on Aug. 10, 2013. He is seeking unspecified damages as well as compensation for past and future health-care and legal costs.
What follows in an excerpt from the claim:
The plaintiff's injuries have and will continue to cause him suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, permanent physical disability, loss of earning capacity, past and future, and loss of housekeeping capacity, past and future
The plaintiff has suffered ongoing physical and emotional injuries, including injury to his feelings, dignity, pride, and self-respect in all aspects of his personal and vocational pursuits.
Vancouver police have confirmed that the incident was investigated, but no charges were filed.
"Given the circumstances of the incident there were no arrests made and there was insufficient evidence to support or recommend any criminal charges," a spokesperson stated via email.
