The New York Rangers have their work cut out for them as their captain is looking for a significant pay raise. Ryan Callahan becomes an unrestricted free agent in July and will have played through a three-year, $12.8 million contract.
According to multiple reports, TSN's Darren Dreger and Hockey Night in Canada's Kevin Weekes have both said Callahan is looking at an average salary above $6.5, closer to $7 million.
Callahan's average cap hit for the last three years was $4.275 million. In his last five seasons, Callahan has not scored under 30 points.
