Report: Decision on Stamkos' availability for Olympics to be made by Wednesday
A decision on whether Steve Stamkos is going to participate in the Olympics or not will be made by Wednesday, according to Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun.
While Stamkos has indeed made progress in his recovery from a broken tibia, the sense is that he would remain sidelined for a few more weeks if this weren't an Olympic year.
As per Garrioch, "the belief amongst NHL executives surveyed by the Sun is that he shouldn't go to the Olympics."
Stamkos' participation in Lightning practice early in the week will therefore go a long way in terms of determining his status for Sochi.
