Leafs' Clarkson could be out longer than expected due to healing process

The injury that is hampering Toronto Maple Leafs forward David Clarkson is "bizarre" according to TSN's Darren Dreger. The forward had a bursa sac surgically removed from his elbow which was cut in-game.

Instead of staying out of the game when he sustained the cut, Clarkson returned after having the significant wound stitched up. After an infection set in and a bursa sac appeared, the recovery for the cut became much longer.

Darren Dreger joined TSN Radio 1050 Monday evening and said the injury isn't getting a lot of attention even though it is bizarre. "We know he had an infected cut in his elbow and they had to surgically remove the bursa sac in his elbow... They're having to take extra precaution. That wound has to be 100% sealed up before he gets back in the lineup."

With a 100 percent healed wound the ticket to playing again for Clarkson, his recovery time has significantly increased from what was originally thought.
