Toronto defeated the Phoenix Coyotes on Monday for its fifth straight victory. The last time the Maple Leafs won five in a row, their coach was Paul Maurice and their starting goaltender was Andrew Raycroft.
Toronto's current winning streak was preceded by a four-game losing skid. Goaltender Jonathan Bernier believes the team simply was not competing during that stretch.
Bernier: "We knew we were a great team - we just didn’t compete enough. That’s the main thing. I think we’re doing it right now."
