VIDEO: Brooks Laich avoids Kris Letang sweep check, scores shorthanded
Though Washington Capitals center Brooks Laich is a reliable two-way player, he's mostly struggled short-handed this season on a mediocre penalty-killing club in Washington. His work on a first period kill against the Pittsburgh Penguins, however, was nothing short of spectacular.
Laich took advantage of an errant Penguins pass and walked in on Kris Letang 2-on-1. Rather than pass, Laich stick-handled through a Letang sweep-check attempt, before beating Marc-Andre Fleury with a choice backhand, forehand deke:
