Anze Kopitar named to Slovenian Olympic men's hockey team by father, brother Gašper snubbed
On Monday the Slovenian hockey federation named 25 players to their men's ice-hockey team for the 2014 Winter Olympic games in Sochi, Russia.
The roster was announced by the coach of the Slovenian National team Matjaž Kopitar, who is also the father of Los Angeles Kings centerman Anze Kopitar. While Kopitar named his star son Anze to the team, he didn't select his other less heralded son, ECHL forward Gasper Kopitar of the Ontario Reign.
The Slovenian national team is made up mostly of players in the French, Czech, Austrian, Swedish and German professional leagues. Among the notable names who will join Kopitar and compete for Slovenia include EC Salzburg Redbulls netminder Luka Gračnar and KHL forward and one-time Detroit Red Wings prospect Jan Mursak.
