Bryzgalov on practicing with Oilers: 'it feels good to be back in the NHL'

The ever-ostentacious Ilya Bryzgalov had his first practice with the Edmonton Oilers on Monday after spending the past two games with the Oklahoma City Barons of the AHL.

The media caught up with Bryz after practice and he was, as always, honest and entertaining.

In his own words:

  • Bryz said that the five months he spent away from NHL were very enjoyable and gave him time to spend with his family. He even helped coach his daughter's figure skating. What a guy! His son is also a goalie, which is probably the cutest thing ever.
  • He's very excited to be in a Canadian city. No. really.
  • And then there was this new best thing ever:

Reporter: "Do you feel you need to change anything off the ice now compared to the way you were in Philly?"

Bryz: "What exactly you mean? What I'm going to eat in the restaurant? You've got to be yourself."

You can see the entire interview below:

Bryzgalov signed a one-year, $2-million contract with the Oilers last Friday. The Flyers bought out the remaining seven years of his nine-year, $51-million contract in the offseason.
