Blackhawks acquire Kris Versteeg from Panthers

The Chicago Blackhawks have acquired forward Kris Versteeg and forward Philippe Lefebvre from the Florida Panthers for forward Jimmy Hayes and defenseman Dylan Olsen.

Versteeg was a member of the Blackhawks during their 2010 Stanley Cup Championship and was unloaded for cap reasons to the Toronto Maple Leafs, before landing in Florida.

General manager Stan Bowman has commented on the acquisition which he feels will be important to the Blackhawks during their 2014 playoff run.

As well as sending two players to the Blackhawks and getting two in return, the Panthers will take on half of Versteeg's salary.
