Flyers trade up, select Jack Nesbitt at No. 12
The Philadelphia Flyers traded up to select center Jack Nesbitt with the 12th overall pick in Friday's NHL draft.
The Flyers sent picks No. 22 and 31 to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange.
Nesbitt notched 25 goals and 64 points in 65 games this season with the OHL's Windsor Spitfires. It was a massive leap from his rookie campaign after he managed 18 points and a minus-32 rating in his first OHL season.
The Sarnia, Ontario, native has a huge frame and can become much more imposing as he fills out. Nesbitt has surprisingly good hands and one-on-one skill, but his skating is a distinct weakness. His lack of pace limits his ceiling, but he could become a useful top-nine center with grit and two-way acumen.
The Flyers selected winger Porter Martone sixth overall.
