Hellebuyck prepared to 'leave it all out there' in hopes of 1st road win
Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck knows he'll need to conquer his inexplicable demons on the road to extend his club's season Saturday night versus the Dallas Stars.
Hellebuyck owns a .783 save percentage and a 5.84 goals against average on the road this postseason, with the Jets entering Game 6 in Dallas 0-5 away from home and down 3-2 in the second-round series.
"It's unfortunate that we got into this position," Hellebuyck said, per NHL.com's Nicholas Cotsonika. "But you know what? I believe in this group, I believe in myself, and I believe in all of our fans, so we're going to continue to compete and leave it all out there."
In addition to Hellebuyck's struggles, the Jets have lost nine consecutive road playoff games dating back to 2023. However, Kyle Connor believes his netminder has the mindset to deliver.
"He's got that type of natural confidence," Connor said. "He doesn't have social media. He doesn't really think of what other people will think. He just goes about his business, comes to the rink. He's always (had) a lighthearted mindset and attitude."
If Hellebuyck and the Jets are able to overcome their road woes Saturday night, they'd return home for Game 7 on Monday. Hellebuyck owns a 6-1 record with two shutouts and a .916 clip at home this postseason.
