Blackhawks raise their Stanley Cup banner
The Chicago Blackhawks started the season by lifting their Stanley Cup banner to the top of the United Center. The Blackhawks followed up the ceremony by picking up where they left off last season, with a 6-4 victory over Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals.

Grabovski scores hat-trick in Caps' debut
The loss wasn't all bad for Washington. Off-season acquisition Mikhail Grabovski had a hat-trick in his first game with the Capitals, en route to a four-point night. Grabovski signed a one-year "prove-it" deal with the Capitals, so he will be motivated to produce with his new club, while showing his former team the Toronto Maple Leafs that they made a mistake letting him go.
Canadiens' Parros suffers concussion from fall
In the scariest moment of the night, Montreal Canadiens forward George Parros fell over top of Toronto Maple Leafs forward Colton Orr, hitting the ice face first. Orr quickly waved for the trainers and Parros was taken off in a stretcher. Parros has been diagnosed with a concussion and if you watch the video below, you will realize why.
