Rielly will start the season with Maple Leafs
The Toronto Maple Leafs have done some shifting and have found a way to be cap compliant. The Maple Leafs will keep defenseman Morgan Rielly and forward Carter Ashton on their active roster for the season opener.
Rielly and Ashton had strong camps for the Maple Leafs and the decision to keep them was made by head coach Randy Carlyle.
In his last season with the Moose Jaw Warriors of the WHL, Rielly scored 54 points in 60 games. He will start the season as the seventh defenseman.
Ashton was the first overall pick in the 2009 draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning, and appeared in 53 games for the Toronto Marlies last season scoring 19 points.
